Refineries of New Stream Group stop oil intake for 10 days in 2018

MOSCOW, Feb 5 (PRIME) -- Three oil refineries of Russia’s New Stream Group – the Afipsky, Antipinsky, and Mariisky refineries – have not been receiving oil from the Transneft pipeline system for at least 10 days since the beginning of 2018, according to Transneft’s data seen by PRIME on February 3.

The Antipinsky refinery suspended oil intake on January 12 for the first time this year, while oil pumping to the Afipsky refinery was suspended on January 20 and January 21. The Mariisky refinery suspended the oil intake from January 16 through January 21, and it also stopped receiving oil on February 1, the Transneft data showed.

All cases of suspension happened due to a lack of routing orders that cargo receivers should submit to cargo senders, the company’s materials read.

A representative of the New Stream Group said attributed suspensions to scheduled maintenance of pipelines. But Igor Dyomin, advisor to the president of Transneft, told PRIME that New Stream had not notified Transneft about any maintenance works and that all pipelines that lead to the refineries of New Stream are working as usual.

“It is possible that they are doing works inside the refineries, but the reason for suspension of pumping is still the absence of routing orders. As of the morning of February 3, oil pumping to the Mariisky refinery was still suspended due to the absence of routing orders,” Dyomin said.

The processing capacity of the Antipinsky refinery, one of Russia’s largest refineries, stands at 9 million tonnes of oil per year. The actual capacity of the Mariisky refinery exceeds 1.6 million tonnes, while the figure for the Afipsky refinery stands at 6 million tonnes.
